Clutter is simply unmade decisions, and locked up in those unmade decisions, is almost always a mixture of unexamined feelings, emotions and thoughts that have not been acknowledged for one reason or another. Is this bad? Absolutely not, we all avoid painful feelings in some way or another, the situation only becomes problematic when you identify it as a problem; and the option for a solution only comes when the pain of change becomes less frightening than the pain of staying stuck in the status quo.

Success Story: a wonderful woman who had suffered from a depression following her divorce called me several months ago to find out of I could be of service to her. She had been searching the internet for an organizer, and appreciated the perspective I had on clutter and the ways that I approach working with my clients.

After an initial in-depth phone conversation, she felt comfortable enough to let me see the disorder that had accumulated over the past few years in her beautiful home. She was terribly embarrassed, as she hadn’t let anyone visit outside her family for several years, but within a few minutes of chatting and laughing, she felt at ease, and we began the first steps towards restoring peace of mind to her life and home.
